(I didn't play online and don't plan to so I can't comment on that part). It's hard to relate to any characters when they yell military jargon the whole game. Some of the set-pieces are incredible. However, I didn't like that there really was no meaningful way to try different tactics like flank or a little stealth or anything like that. Modesty aside I think I'm pretty good at FPS games but there are quite a few cheap deaths in this game. It was basically just blast away and fling as many grenades as you have (usually not many).
One thing is certain, overall I had fun and it's worth playing. Nothing better than flinging a grenade into a crowd of Chimera and watching them all go flying. Sometimes the games looks breathtaking, colorful, and sharp, and other times it looks bland. You walk into an area, get bombarded by overly powerful enemies, your Bullseye Mark II suddenly feels like a pea shooter, and boom you're dead before you barely even knew what hit you. Very satisfying mayhem. I played though 2 times on Normal and I died more times than I care to admit.
He just feels sluggish. It's epic at times. You get to a set-piece, enemies storm you like maniacs, you blast em, then move on the next set-piece. Somehow the balance is a little off. They did an amazing job with the "scale" aspect, but other parts of the game suffered. This is a tough game to review because at times it can be spectacular, and then it can be extremely frustrating. Like I said, you just move from one set-piece to the next, shooting Chimera, not really caring why. I've never seen anything like it in a videogame, just a great achievement by Insomniac.
It's strange though that the graphics are inconsistent. I like games to be very challenging, I hate dumbed down games, but this game can be very frustrating, and even infuriating at times. The other guns are cool as always but some of them feel a little weak, particularly the Carbine. Avoiding it because of all the complaints is a mistake, but I do I have complaints though.Before R2 was released Insomniac kept talking about how this game was all about "scale", and they weren't lying.
We'll secure the perimeter. I hardly paid attention to what the characters were talking about, because the entire game they engage in the most annoying military-speak:"Rendezvous at the LZ. He's really slow.The way the story is told is ineffective. Hale is constantly on the brink of death after only a few hits, in other words the screen starts to go black and white and red like most games nowadays and it gets annoying being in that state too often.Another thing I didn't like is the way Hale moves. I just feel like it could have been a lot better because Insomniac is one of the most talented developers in the industry.
The way enemies glow green so you can see them through walls is extremely cool, and it has a shield which comes in handy in this game, which brings me to another point: I died a lot in this game.
I like games to have real people in them, not just military caricatures.So it sounds like I complained the whole review, but the bottom line is I had fun with this game.
There were some cool sniper parts though, can never get enough of those, and the two sniper rifles are excellent.
Move soldier that's an order."It gets so old.
The size of some of the enemies and environment is huge and the way things look and move you really get a sense of the grandeur.
God forbid you need to run away to get behind cover.
My favorite gun by far is the Auger.
Mostly though it looked great and it was nice to see color in a game instead of all the grey and brown out there.Like the first game, there are a few epic battles with many Chimera to take on, and they are a lot of fun.
I guess this describes most FPS games but in R2 it felt very linear and repetitive.
the campaign mode was phenominal (graphics were sweet too), cooperative mode (where you play with other teams members against the computer) was really fun, and the competitive mode (players vs players) had me playing for months. this was one of the best games i have ever played.
Why there is no opportunity to drive a vehicle at any time is beyond me. A solid game graphically but the game play was ok in my estimation. Bottom line: Not great, not bad, but just good. The multiplayer seems to be the main attraction but it is just ok too. The enemies get old after a while. Huge miss: NO vehicle control.
The most appreciated beauty of this game that I personally hold lies in its replay value. To put it simply: the game is just plain great and a noteworthy addition to anyone's PS3 collection. Highly recommended, it is well worth the purchase. Unlockables, trophy collection, overall fun, and an amazing multi-player with unlockable skins & weapons, co-op mode, etc., make this game one that will always feel great to start up again. The multi-player is epic with it's 60-person capability, all without the tiniest bit of lag. The campaign is equally as intense and enjoyable with a feeling of reward and accomplishment after completing each chapter of the particularly interesting storyline.

Looking for the weapon of choice on the ground instead of having them at your finger tips like in the first Resistance (sometimes you may need a RPG to kill an over-sized beast but all you can find on the ground is a sniper rifle).2.
